Tasked to identify the gaps in the current user experience and propose potential solutions, we found Kreta Ayer Heritage Gallery's existing website (as per XXX 2024) and thought it would benefit from some UX solutions and UI redesign.
Timeline
From understanding the user problem to final designs in 3 weeks.
Background
Kreta Ayer Heritage Gallery provides an overview of the history and heritage of Kreta Ayer, and highlights the area’s rich and diverse intangible cultural heritage. Solution
Targetting the problems raised during our user interviews, we came up with several iterations to the current design that would improve the user experience.
Improved I.A
The original website had unnecessary pages with incomplete information or lack of information, making it hard for visitors to even discover essential information like ticket prices (if any). Proposing this new I.A, we hope to improve the user experience by making it streamlined and clear.
Accessibility
We made sure that information visitors tend to explore are accessible to them by placing it on the landing page.
Age/Level Indicators
We discovered that having indications of either age-appropriateness or suitable educational levels was something users found to be important in their experience. Since KAHG offers workshops and activities, we believed that having this feature would be a value add.
Detailed Information
As the existing website was lacking in information that explains the culture and heritage, it made it difficult for potential visitors to determine the value of their trip to KAHG, as well as what takeaways they would be able to learn. As such, we improved on the content of the website.
improved i.A
A more detailed and appropriate I.A was created to better encapsulate the users' needs.
age/level indicators
By making the age-appropriateness and other relevant tags visible, it helps users to make an informed decision quickly without having to navigate to other pages, or even research separately, to gather information about the activity.
accessibility
Allow visitors to quickly navigate to sections that they are interested in on the landing page, reducing their number of clicks.
